Staff Development PDF Print E-mail
As a small 3-teacher school all staff are closely involved in curriculum development.  The SEN co-ordinator is constantly at pains to keep SEN children and their curriculum needs to the forefront of any curriculum development or planning.

The teacher's feel that the test of a good school is now it caters for its less able children.  Because we felt we hadn't enough knowledge about appropriate standardised tests, we invited the chief educational psychologist, Mr John Owens for a school based inservice day.  We found this invaluable.

Deirdre Boyle co-ordinator, has attended many INSET courses.  She chose 3 children with Special Educational Needs as the focus for her dissertation when completing her MSc.

No member of the staff has a specialised qualification in special needs, however we feel we pool our resources and teaching styles and cater to the best of our abilities for the SEN child.

Where provision beyond what can be given by the class teacher is required, the services of the Board's Special Educational Section will be used.
