Forms of Bullying PDF Print E-mail

These are actual forms of bullying which P5 pupils suggested during a brainstorming session on this subject:

  • Physical violence such as hitting, pushing, kicking, boxing, pinching or spitting at another pupil.
  • Shouting, screaming into someone else's face.
  • Turning other people against someone.
  • Leaving people out of games.
  • Threatening, eg watch out or ‘we'll beat you up' or we'll get you in the toilets'.
  • Throwing things or using implements to cause deliberate injury to another pupil.
  • Interfering with another pupil's property, by stealing, hiding or damaging it.
  • Cursing at someone, calling names, giving rude signs.
  • Threatening others to hand over money, sweets and personal belongings.
  • Threatening the victim so that he/she is afraid to tell.
  • Teasing or spreading rumours about another pupil or his/her family.
  • Belittling another pupil's abilities and achievements.

These are actual ideas of how to stamp out bullying children suggested during a brainstorm session on this subject:

  • If you know of or see bullying going on, tell a teacher, a supervisor or your parents.
  • If you are being bullied ALWAYS tell someone about it.  Never suffer in silence.
  • Never become involved in the bullying even if you are afraid that you are going to be left out of the group.
