Aims and Outcomes of Play |

That play will be enjoyable. To provide a secure, stimulating environment which will allow for the development of the whole child. Provide opportunities for children to develop at their own rate through challenging progressive play.
Learning Outcomes That the children will develop an awareness of and appreciation for the environment. To provide opportunities for the children, through a controlled situation, to express the emotions of pleasure, frustration, anxiety and aggression, etc. To help the children to relate to each other and to encourage tolerance and respect for others and their property, eg co-operation, sharing, taking turns, teamwork. To develop manipulative skills and good co-ordination. That the children will discover the properties of materials which lead to the formation of mathematical and scientific concepts. Children's language skills will be developed through interaction with peer groups and adults, eg talking, listening, explaining, describing. To stimulate creativity and self-expression through the introduction of a wide variety of materials and experiences.
Structured Play involves children from P1 - P4. Why structure children's play? - Primarily because children learn more if their teacher is planning activities for them to explore. |
