Pupils are continually reminded that they must always tell someone if anything or anyone is upsetting them inside or outside school and that this person can be any teacher, not necessarily their own teacher, (all teaching staff have completed the boards child protection training programme and the principal revises the programme with the ancillary staff.  All parents have been issued with a copy of the schools' child protection policy.

Parent's support is enlisted on issues such as behaviour on the school bus.

Apart from arranged parents meetings (by teacher or parent) parents are encouraged to contact the school any time they have a concern, either about their child's work or any other issue.  In the case of pupils with special educational needs parents are consulted as soon as any problem is identified.  Each teacher keeps in contact with the parents, informing them of any special provision (IEPs) and of how they can help to reinforce skills at home.

Other agencies that support our pastoral care policy include NI Fire Safety Department, NSPCC, School Dentist, School Nurse, Police Service of Northern Ireland (Education programme on safety), GAA, Coaches (football, hurling, camogie).  Children's consideration for the less fortunate in our society and the wider world is enhanced through our RE programme, the Lenten Trocaire campaign and our annual shoebox appeal.
