1. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Aims

a) To promote a positive attitude towards health.
b) To encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Objectives

a) Pupils should develop to their fullest potential and have a positive self-image and self-confidence.
b) Pupils should understand the stages and factors, which govern physical growth.
c) Pupils should achieve appropriate levels of physical fitness.
d) Pupils should understand the importance of food for their growth, to provide energy and good health.
e) Pupils should make responsible decisions about their diet.
f) Pupils should understand the use and misuse of drugs and other harmful substances.


 

2. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Aims

a) To develop good social relationships.
b) To give children a sense of responsibility in respect of individual, family and community health and safety.

Objectives

a) Pupils should recognise the positive contribution they can make to the life of the family.
b) Pupils should be able to form a variety of relationships with their peers and the wider community.


HEALTH AND OUR ENVIRONMENT

Aims

a) To promote a healthy environment
b) To give children a sense of responsibility for maintaining and improving the environment.

Objectives

a) Pupils should be able to cope with their own personal safety within their environment.
b) Pupils should understand what is meant by a healthy environment and what is needed to maintain and improve it.
