Talking and Listening Aims P1-P7 PDF Print E-mail

PRIMARY 2

(As for P1 plus)

(a) Talk with the teacher, or in a group about a given task, reporting on work done.

(b) Begin to show awareness of sounds in spoken language.

(c) Express reactions to stories and poems.

(d) Read aloud and recite poetry for teacher and peer group.

(e) To continue efforts to verbalise experiences.

Activities and Methods (As for P1 plus)

(a) Retell main events in a fairy tale, story/poem and put in correct sequence. (Illustrate)

(b) Encourage discussion as it arises from - e.g., objects teacher or children bring to school. Seasonal, Santa, Christmas, Nature.

(c) Follow instructions on a computer programme, and more complex oral instructions.

(d) Continue to learn initial sounds.

(e) Say poems and rhymes for the other pupils in class, which they have memorised.

(f) Provide pictures and books without words to stimulate conversation and prediction.

(g) Provide articles for description (including feely bag).
