A very welcome welcome to our new intake of

Daire, Cathal, Helen, Becca, Adam, Stephen and Conrad.

We wish Ciaran, Conor, Abbey, Blanaid, Cristian, Mark, Peadar and Sean every success and much happiness in their new schools. We look forward to hearing lots of good things about them.

We extend heartful congratulations to Mr Prunty on the occasion of his marriage which took place during July.

He has asked if his thanks and appreciation could be conveyed to all the parents, staff and Governors for the beautiful present and good wishes he and Mairead received.

Regretfully Mrs R Peake has indicated that she will not be returning to take Irish dancing this academic year.

Rosaleen has decided to ‘wind down’ her school classes, but she will continue to teach dance in the Knocks hall on Thursday evenings and in Enniskillen on Saturday mornings.

We benefited from Rosaleen’s skills and enthusiasm for 6 years. She was always upbeat and had a positive influence on your children.

It boosted our curriculum greatly to be able to offer Irish dancing to our repertoire of activities but most importantly it enhanced the cultural experience the children received. She will be greatly missed!

THE HEALTH PROMOTING SCHOOL AWARD

We have decided to participate in the ‘Smart Snack Awards’ this academic year. We wish to develop and promote the school as a healthy setting where children are encouraged to select the nutritional option for break and in their lunch boxes. To achieve this your support is vital. Already 3 out of 4 schools in the WH SSB partake in this scheme.

It is particularly relevant at a time when there are increasing concerns about childhood obesity and the relationship between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, cancer and dental disease.

Our school website is up and running www.cornagague.com.

We intend to utilise it even further.

So look out for new features every term.

A warm welcome back to Madame Major as she recommences her French classes.

JOKE BOX

Son: I’m not going to school anymore.

Mother: Why?

Son: Because on Monday the teacher said that four and four were eight. On Tuesday she said that six and two were eight. On Wednesday she said that one and seven were eight. I’m not going back to that school until the teacher makes up her mind.

When sending money into school for lunches/trips etc, please use envelopes with the child’s name and amount on the outside.

*****************

If children are absent from school we require a written note from a parent outlining the reason for the absence. The same applies if they have to attend an appointment during school hours. Please put in writing for administration purposes.

All children should have their names on their uniform.

********************

Thank you Ciaran for all your hardwork over the summer holidays. The school is looking beautiful.

Our annual trip to the Panto to see Peter Pan takes place on Tuesday 5th December. Classes P2 – P7 inclusive. Payment of £11.00 is required immediately Please send in at your earliest convenience.

The Teacher asked John to read out his answers to last night’s homework. ‘What sentence did you use with the word ‘fascinate’ in it? She asked.

‘My coat has nine buttons on it but I could only fasten eight’, was his proud answer.
